My Raise - The Percentage

Ok, so since I only received one comment to this post, John gets to know my raise percentage increase. It was about 12.5%.

This is a mid-year raise since I was promoted. We do performance reviews twice a year - one at mid-year and once at the end of the year. I expect to get another raise at the end of the year, hopefully with a similar percentage, but I doubt it. Almost everyone gets a raise at the end of the year. I know of colleagues who have only received a 3% increase with promotion, but their original salaries were greater than mine.

Percentage means more to me as well. Not sure about your company, but 12.5% would be considered a huge raise where I'm employed. We only do raises once a year at our yearly review time unless there are very extenuating circumstances (ie someone is going to leave unless they get more money). Ours are typically in the 3-5% range.

Good luck on your next one!

Wow. That's a nice raise to go with your promotion. In my industry, to get a raise like that means switching companies. In my field, it depends on where you work. Hopefully I'll get out of this industry someday! :-)

Wow! Congrats on the promo and raise.

Wow, be thankful for that high of a raise. State workers in most cases receive a garbage cost of living increase of only 3% (if the legislature even approves it). That certainly doesn't even keep up the real world. Then they raise health care insurance prices which takes it right away.

I got 1.5% last time with an "outstanding/strong" evaluation :( I did get 5% when I was promoted last year. That about made up the difference I'd lost to inflation since I was first hired.
